01) Whatever One Sows
7 February, 2010
Synopsis: An introduction to lessons on the fruit of the spirit, reminding us that we will reap what we sow. Principle points adapted from John Shearheart
The Fruit of the Spirit
02) Love
14 February, 2010
Synopsis: The New Testament concept of love is different from ours. Love means
choosing to do what is best for the object of the love. We are to
love our God, our neighbor, our enemies and our selves.
03) Joy
7 March, 2010
Synopsis: The fruit of the spirit is joy. Paul’s letter to the Philippians
teaches us that real joy is not dependent on our circumstances,
but on being in a right relationship with our Lord Jesus and with
our brothers and sisters in Christ.
04) Peace
14 March, 2010
Synopsis: We have peace in our lives when our relationship with
God is reconciled through Jesus. This peace changes how we
live our lives, and helps us to be in peace with our brethren and
all men.
05) Patience
28 March, 2010
Synopsis: By examining God’s patience in the days of Noah, with
man, with Paul, and in the parable of the Unmerciful Servant we
find the keys to our patience. We must be patient in teaching,
helping and forgiving.
06) Kindness
4 April, 2010
Synopsis: Despite our sin, God has continued to show all mankind His kindness, especially
in providing salvation in Jesus Christ. God’s kindness is not
without purpose, it is meant to lead us to repentance. We too
must demonstrate kindness in every aspect of our lives.
07) Goodness
2 May, 2010
Synopsis: Tabitha and Barnabas remind us that the essence of goodness is generosity,
going beyond what is just and not being begrudging. Being a
child of God compels us to do more than is expected.
08) Faithfulness
9 May, 2010
Synopsis: We know that God is faithful, and since we are His
children, we should be faithful too. We must determine to be
faithful to God, to our brethren, and to ourselves.
09) Gentleness
23 May, 2010
Synopsis: Gentleness (or meekness) means strength under control. Sadly, it is often
mistaken for weakness. But both Moses and Jesus are described
as gentle. We demonstrate meekness in our lives by learning,
answering, restoring, correcting and living in meekness.
(The last portion of this lesson is from Flesh and Spirit, by
William Barclay.)
10) Self-Control
30 May, 2010
Synopsis: The final fruit of the spirit is self-control, which means
that we are to have control over our bodies and minds. The
apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 9 reminded us that we must be like
athletes.
11) You Are At War
6 June, 2010
Synopsis: The Word of God makes it clear that we are at war
within ourselves. How can we hope to have victory? This
lesson presents 6 keys to freedom in Christ.
